AdviceUK’s campaign Advice Saves launched in our first ever Advice Week that took place Monday 21 October – Friday 25 October 2024.

The Advice Saves campaign aims to raise awareness of AdviceUK and the fantastic work of its members across England, Scotland and Wales. It is highlighting the key challenges faced by advice-giving organisations and calling for policy change to support the advice sector.

During Advice Week we revealed the results of our Advice Saves research which revealed the key challenges facing independent advice organisations across the UK. It showed a sector at breaking point with, with a staggering 90% of advice centre staff reporting an increase in demand over the last year; yet more than half (55%) reporting they are not confident they can meet demand.   Read our news story.

We received wide coverage of the story across the media including coverage on BBCTV evening news Midlands Today, Radio 4’s You and Yours and Moneybox Live, and regional radio and newspapers. Our parliamentary reception, read here, brought together AdviceUK members, MPs and Ministers to discuss the key challenges facing the sector and the key policy changes needed to ensure the sector can continue its life-transforming work for the benefit of people and communities in crisis.

Our Advice Saves report highlights the work AdviceUK is doing to support independent advice organisations, explains the social and financial impact of the advice sector, and presents our call for action to support the sector. Download a copy of the report here

Our Advice Saves campaign toolkits for AdviceUK members and supporters provide everything you need to get involved with our ongoing campaign and to spread the word about the life-transforming work of independent advice centres across the UK.

AdviceUK Chief Executive Liz Bayram said: “Everyone working or volunteering in social welfare advice organisations deserves recognition for the incredible work they do. Their work transforms lives for people in their communities, providing life-changing advice to people in crisis.

The Advice Saves campaign is helping to elevate the profile of the work advice-giving organisations do and call for action to support the work of our members.”

Our CEO, Liz Bayram, has written to the Chancellor to urgently call for action on the planned increase in employer National Insurance Contributions (NICs), highlighting the severe impact this policy will have on the voluntary sector and the essential services it provides.
