 Policy & Programmes

2.8 million people supported each year by AdviceUK members. We’re amplifying the voice of independent advice services, empowering communities, influencing change for the delivery of frontline support where it’s needed most.

Our members are at the core of what we do.

We support them and the diverse communities they serve by strengthening their ability to create impact and improving the environment they work in.

We use real-time data from our members to understand emerging issues and influence decision makers. This insight allows us to be a strong voice for the independent advice sector, ensuring our members, and the communities they support, are heard.

We collaborate with others across the advice sector and use evidence to challenge injustice and shape better outcomes.

We work closely with our members to understand the issues that are affecting them and their clients.

Also what else members want AdviceUK ideally to provide in terms of learning and development support. It has been a pleasure to work with members from diverse areas of […]

AdviceUK responds to “The new Independent Appeals Body” consultation.

Drawing on the experiences of its member organisations, which provide frontline, independent and free immigration and asylum advice, AdviceUK has responded to the Home Office’s “The new Independent Appeals Body” consultation.   We support the Government’s efforts  to reduce delays and backlogs in the immigration and asylum appeals system. However, the current proposals set out in the consultation are unlikely to achieve these aims. If anything, they risk creating further inefficiencies, delays, and exacerbating existing problems in the system.   Our members in the immigration and asylum advice sector tell us that the […]

AdviceUK responds to the BBC report on rogue immigration advisers

Responding to the BBC’s report on rogue immigration advisers, Dr Zubaida Haque, Head of Policy, Programmes and Media at AdviceUK said:   “We are really saddened to hear people desperately needing advice are exploited by rogue immigration advisers charging extortionate fees for poor and negligent advice. Our members in the independent advice sector regularly observe this. The impact on individuals can be catastrophic. The Brushstrokes […]
