AdviceUK has secured a seven-year, £1.5 million Propel grant to support its goal to transform London’s advice sector workforce. Building on three years of successful delivery that has supported over 90 advice workers to become qualified, this new programme supports advice workers’ entire career journey – from first steps into paid advisory roles to progression, management and leadership.
Over the next seven years, AdviceUK will work with its London-based members to co-design flexible pathways across the sector and continue building a representative, diverse, sustainable, and community-led advice sector across London. Whilst the programme is focused on London members, it will also support AdviceUK as it transforms its own learning and skills offer for all its members over the next three years.
The programme is informed by the needs of the sector and is already making an impact. Over the course of seven years, the project aims for people who entered the sector through this programme to progress into advisory, supervisory and leadership roles. At the same time, community-led organisations will own their own workforce development infrastructure, from progression frameworks to recruitment practices and peer networks, reducing their reliance on AdviceUK to deliver it. We hope leadership across participating organisations will be more diverse, and lived experience will be represented at the management and governance levels.
