AdviceUK’s CEO Steve Johnson has written to the CEO of the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS), Caroline Siarkiewicz, to ask her to pause MaPS’s procurement process for debt advice in England.
AdviceUK has also called on MaPS to conduct a full consultation on its proposals, publish an Equality Impact Assessment and to extend its current funding arrangements until the consultation process is complete.
The letter explains that the nature of the contracts on offer from MaPS exclude smaller and medium sized debt organisations from bidding and that the allocation of resources to online and telephone channels means that many vulnerable people who depend upon face-to-face debt advice will not be able to access it.
AdviceUK is encouraging members to join our campaign by posting on social media and writing to their MP.
