AdviceUK is the national charity supporting the UK’s largest network of independent advice centres. Our 700 member organisations help more than two million people every year with problems relating to debt; housing; employment; immigration & asylum; welfare benefits and consumer rights. As their association body since 1979, we support them with a range of services to help them be effective in helping others.
In pursuit of good governance we are always looking for prospective new Trustees to succeed our longest-serving Board members and help take our work to the next level. We aim to maintain a diverse Board drawing on a broad range of skills and backgrounds including advice needs and service provision; business and innovation; marketing; ICT, media and communications; customer service; finance and accountancy; legal and management.
At the present time we’re particularly looking to recruit trustees from amongst AdviceUK Member organisations who will bring current knowledge and understanding of advice needs, advice service provision and the Member perspective to the Board. If this is something you can offer and you want to play a national role in helping people resolve problems and overcome injustice we’re keen to hear from you.
Applicants should be aware that we operate as a social business with a clear strategy for future independence and sustainability through enterprise. Those applicants we appoint will therefore be enterprising and independently-minded individuals who relish the challenge of helping a charity to succeed in an increasingly difficult environment.
We welcome expressions of interest at any time during the year. We have a cyclical programme of Trustee recruitment with terms of office normally ending and beginning each July. Selection for the following year normally occurs in November / December.
To apply please send an email to Co.Sec@adviceuk.org.uk attaching a CV plus a covering letter of no more than 500 words explaining what you think you would bring to the role.
Closing date for 2019 positions is 31st October 2018.
