The aims of the workstream are to:
- support the development of a sector that is sustainable through its ability to attract and retain staff and volunteers
- enhance delivery of frontline advice services through increased awareness of how to address workforce development and training needs
- expand the availability of appropriate workforce development and training solutions for the sector
This is going to be achieved by:
- establishing a central register of approved trainers that organisations can access to support their workforce development and training requirements
- delivering a programme of manager training that will include workforce development awareness and competency assessment toolkits
- creating a web portal for training resources and information
- developing a national programme of skills and knowledge training including cross-sector training materials for new entrants to the sector
- supporting further development of a qualifications and accreditation framework for the sector
