Developing Discrimination Advice
The Developing Discrimination Advice workstream was part of the Working Together for Advice project, which was completed at the end of September 2010. Its overall aim was to increase the availability of high quality discrimination advice to members of the public in England.
AdviceUK was funded to work under this workstream. It delivered free training on discrimination advice and issues, regional events for advisers, a list of resources for advisers who provide advice on discrimination issues and a mentoring scheme (see below).
Pro Bono Mentoring Scheme
The workstream piloted a Pro Bono Mentoring Scheme in partnership with the Bar Pro Bono Unit. The pilot scheme enabled specialist discrimination advice advisers in AdviceUK member organisations, Citizens Advice Bureaux and Law Centres to be mentored by Barristers working in the discrimination field. For further information about the pilot scheme, please see the Summary Evaluation Report, Full Evaluation Report and an recent article from Independent Adviser.
THIS SCHEME IS CONTINUING. For more information, click here to visit the Bar Pro Bono web site.
