Law Centres' Calls to the next government

The Law Centres Federation is calling for a national debate on the best way to ensure legal aid and advice are supported at local level and put forward six principles that should be upheld. The principles refer to cross government policy and budgets, alignment of best policy and practice, client focused redesign, intelligent partnerships, investment in sustainability and public legal education.

AdviceUK is pleased to endorse Law Centres' calls. In addition we call for smart thinking from government about independent advice in the round - not just that which is funded under the legal aid scheme - as set out in Smart Advice.
