Coalition consultation on deficit reduction
In July 2010, Minister for the Cabinet Office, Francis Maude, and Minister for Civil Society, Nick Hurd, wrote an open letter to the voluntary, community and social enterprise sectors asking them to share ideas about how they can help reduce the deficit.
Ideas were welcomed on how to reduce costs, but also on how public services could be improved and delivered better, and they are particularly keen to hear examples of good practice that can be shared across government departments.

AdviceUK has responded to the letter, highlighting the value of advice, and citing examples of how the advice sector can help to reduce cost and waste in public services developed through its BOLD project.
