How to keep informed
One aspect of campaigning is keeping abreast of the news. You can do this really easily by subscribing to e-mails alerts. Another aspect is informing your client base of your campaigns.
Free e-mail alerts: Campaigning context
Policy Bites from Advice Services Alliance (ASA) is a bi-monthly email update on policy issues affecting the advice sector. This update brings you summaries of recent research, news of the latest consultations and information about the work of ASA's policy team.
The CLS Support email bulletin provides regular updates on issues relating to the CLS Quality Mark and the Legal Aid contract.
Free e-mail alerts: Campaigning themes
You can keep up to date with specific campaigning areas through the Citizens Advice e-alert registration. You can pick and choose between benefits and tax credit, education, consumer and debt, employment, equality/diversity and discrimination, health and community, housing, immigration and asylum, legal affairs, modernising government, redress and complaints, and rural issues.
Publications
Third Sector is the only weekly magazine to cater for charities, voluntary organisations and social enterprises in the UK. It covers developments across areas such as fundraising, finance, marketing, communications, volunteering and management.
Citizens Advice produces a quarterly journal, Evidence, which highlights policy concerns.
How to keep your clients informed of your campaigns
One of the big issues for advice organisation is how to tailor mailing lists to particular groups of individuals, and how to make the best use of information about people that might potentially support a campaign. phplist is a free piece of software that enables you to create targeted email lists.
