Lord Glassman announced as keynote speaker for AdviceUK Conference
Maurice Glasman, Labour life peer in the House of Lords, senior lecturer in Political Theory at London Metropolitan University and long-time community organiser with London Citizens, has been announced as keynote speaker at this year’s AdviceUK Annual Conference, which is being held in Birmingham on Thursday 12 October.
Best known as the founder of Blue Labour, Lord Glasman has argued that Labour should embrace a return to community values evident in early Labour politics but lost after 1945 and the rise of the welfare state.
AdviceUK Chief Executive Steve Johnson said: “We are delighted that Maurice Glasman has agreed to speak at our event. He is a perfect fit for the conference theme of ‘Back to the Future?’, which will explore whether austerity policies impacting on service providers and the poorest in society alike are seeing the advice sector return to its roots in community activism.”
Bookings are open for the conference. You can book a place and get further information about the conference here AdviceUK Annual Conference 2017.
