The Charity Commission says that an effective charity is run by a clearly identifiable trustee body that has the right balance of skills and experience to run the charity effectively, acts in the best interests of the charity and its beneficiaries, understands its responsibilities and has systems in place to exercise them effectively.

At AdviceUK we ensure that the trustee body is constituted in accordance with our governing documents, the Memorandum and Articles and Rules and Bye-laws, and has a mix of skills, knowledge and experience necessary for the effective running of the charity. Our trustees are elected by our member organisations but can also be co-opted by existing trustees from member organisations or elsewhere in order to bring specific skills to the board.
