The University of Lincoln Students’ Union is an independent body affiliated to the National Union of Students and supports students in both academic and non-academic experiences; whilst working closely with the University and local community. Student leaders are elected by students, and supported by the staff’s expertise delivering services and represent student needs.

The Advice Centre Manager will manage the provision of confidential, impartial and non-judgemental advice on a range of academic issues to a diverse student membership. Ensuring the service is widely promoted and is of a high quality, respected by students as independent and professional.

The Advice Centre Manager will directly line manage the Senior Student Advisor and oversee the operations of the Advice Centre staff (2 advisors and 6 volunteers) to ensure it delivers effective representation and support to all members who need it.

Key Responsibilities include;
– Deliver independent, impartial and non-judgmental advice to students including co-ordinating the representation and advocacy for students at University hearings and promote and publicise the service to students, staff, the University and external Stakeholders.

– Line Management responsibilities for the Senior Student Advisor and overseeing the use of the Students’ Union Management System (SUMS) by all Advice Centre staff.

– Support the Student Volunteers providing peer-to-peer support including helping the Student Leaders to identify, train and support volunteers who will provide the peer-to-peer support as part of the Advice Service.

– other general duties including acting as the Safeguarding Officer for the Students’ Union alongside the Chief Executive and manage the Advice Centre budget.
