Phil took up his present post in April 2005 having first joined AdviceUK as Director of the Inclusive Quality Project in August 2002. He takes the lead on national advice and social policy issues of interest to our members and on representations to external bodies and stakeholders including civil servants and Government Ministers. He deals with matters including the Community Legal Service and LSC contracts and liaison with Government departments and agencies such as the DWP and OISC. He is responsible for developing our policy work and for liaison with other voluntary sector networks. This includes working towards greater capacity for co-ordination of social policy work across the AdviceUK network, initiating and carrying out research and work on key policy issues including quality, peer review, advice outcomes and funding.

Phil has worked in and around the advice sector for 20 years. Starting as a housing adviser and campaigner, he moved into advice policy and management roles with London Advice Services Alliance and Shelter before joining AdviceUK.
