AdviceUK Annual Conference 2016

‘Navigating Stormy Seas’

AdviceUK’s Annual Conference 2016, “Navigating Stormy Seas,” was held at etc. venues Maple House in Birmingham on Thursday 13 October. We are pleased to report that feedback from delegates about the event has been really positive:

“The conference was great – I thought it was even better than last year”
“Really useful workshops – very professional”
“An enjoyable event; informative workshops; I felt very well looked after!!”
“Very thought-provoking & inspiring”

Journalist and broadcaster Liz Barclay chaired the conference with her usual flair. The morning’s keynote speaker was Lord Willy Bach, Chair of the Access to Justice Commission and Police and Crime Commissioner for Leicestershire. Eight different workshops were held, including ones on change management, effective supervision, making the most of volunteers, improving funding bids, working with higher education, and better reporting using AdvicePro. Tea and coffee breaks and a hot lunch provided opportunities for delegates to network and visit the busy exhibition area. A special cake was cut to mark Steve Johnson’s 20th anniversary as AdviceUK’s Chief Executive, and the event closed with a stimulating panel debate on the subject of leadership.

The conference will return to Maple House in Birmingham on Thursday 12 October 2017, so please make sure to make a note of the date in your diaries. Further information will be available about the event early next year.
